This event explores how museum spaces and stories can support communication and multi-sensory engagement. Through peer discussion and a facilitated exploration of The Postal Museum’s exhibitions, we’ll share ideas for making museum visits more inclusive and meaningful for children and young people.
This event is co-hosted by A New Direction and The Postal Museum's Schools team.
During the session, you will:
- Connect with peers working with Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent children and young people;
- Take part in a facilitated exploration of the museum galleries;
- Develop confidence in making cultural connections in your teaching practice;
- Make connections between your learning and that of your students;
- Take part in discussion, practical activities and reflection;
- Share and discuss with peers how a visit to a museum can be truly inclusive for children and young people with a range of learning needs.
You are welcome to arrive early for free refreshments from 1.30pm to connect with your teaching peers before the event with the session starting at 2pm.
