The experience begins by slowing down and turning inward through meditation and the resonant sounds of singing bowls. From there, Born I weaves contemplative, melodic hip-hop into the soundscape, creating a journey that moves between stillness, reflection, rhythm, and live performance.
No meditation experience is necessary - just come as you are and be open to experiencing hip-hop in a completely different way.
About Born
Born I is a Washington, DC-based hip-hop artist, author, mindfulness teacher, and Zen practitioner. He is the creator of Hip-Hop Soundbath, an immersive experience bringing together meditation, sound healing, and live hip-hop. His work explores the intersection of music, mindfulness, self-compassion, and spiritual practice.
He is the author of Lyrical Dharma: Hip-Hop as Mindfulness and has shared his music and meditation work with audiences across the United States and internationally.

Created and led by meditation teacher, author, and hip-hop artist Born I, the experience begins with guided meditation and the resonant sounds of singing bowls and other healing instruments, inviting participants to settle into the body and cultivate a sense of presence. From that space of stillness, Born I transitions into a live performance of melodic, contemplative hip-hop exploring themes of healing, self-compassion, transformation, spirituality, and inner freedom.
Part meditation, part soundbath, and part concert, Hip-Hop Soundbath creates a space where ancient contemplative practices and contemporary musical expression meet, inviting participants not simply to listen, but to feel, reflect, and experience the music from the inside out.
