Glossop Watch Party 2026, Engineering Group Award & Networking Dinner

Glossop Event Livestreams

This year’s Glossop Award Presentation and Medal Lecture will form part of the XV IAEG World Congress in Delft, The Netherlands, bringing the Engineering Group of the Geological Society’s flagship Glossop event to an international audience. The main event will take place at TU Delft during the Congress, with a livestream shown at Burlington House for those attending in London.

The programme will open with the Glossop Award Presentation by Rowshi Hussain, recipient of this year’s Glossop Award, highlighting emerging talent and new work in engineering geology. Rowshi will present on her winning topic "Geohazard Assessment of Legacy Mine Workings Using Borehole Images and Wireline Logging".

This will be followed by the Glossop Medal Lecture presented by Ann Williams, the 2026 Glossop Medal recipient, whose lecture, “Dewatering: where science meets art”, will explore the role of dewatering in safe and resilient construction below the water table, drawing on case studies and experience from engineering geology practice.

Engineering Group Award

Following the conclusion of the Glossop live-streams, the 2026 Engineering Group Award will be presented to Holger Kessler of AtkinsRéalis, in recognition of his incredible contributions to the field of Engineering Geology. The award presentation will include a short lecture from Holger showcasing his career highlights and contributions to the industry.

Networking Dinner

An evening reception will follow the presentations from 7:30pm - an excellent opportunity to network, catch up with old friends, and celebrate Engineering Geology! Spaces for the evening reception are limited and tickets must be purchased.
