Austin’s premier Rock ‘n’ roll school for women 21+, Girl Guitar, is hosting their Holiday Student Showcase at Stubb’s BBQ on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 4 to 9 p.m. featuring nearly 100 students in the current program. Founded by Mandy Rowden, Girl Guitar has helped countless women discover their musical potential, forge lasting friendships, and experience the thrill of performing on a real stage.
The school hosts six showcases a year for their students to get onstage at some of Austin’s most iconic venues, and this is the final showcase of the year.
Girl Guitar started in 2007 with just eight women gathering to learn guitar and play music
together. Now, as it approaches its 20th anniversary year, the school has blossomed into a thriving musical community. Today, Girl Guitar offers acoustic guitar and songwriting classes, full-band programs spanning a variety of genres, private lessons on multiple instruments, and opportunities for women at every stage of their musical journey. Whether it’s just to get out for the night or to pursue music professionally, Girl Guitar has been there for the women of Austin for two decades.
