Featured Visual Artists & Live Music
- Ama is a multidisciplinary artist and research scientist. As a researcher, she investigates biological processes through an iterative and experimental approach. Adopting a similar framework for her artwork, Ama explores concepts of inner-self and cultural identity through portraiture, using traditional and digital art mediums.
- Hundreds of years from now, when our bones and our buildings have disappeared, the pottery we make may be one of the only physical manifestations of our existence. By using clay as a canvas for cultural preservation, she reconnects ancestral ties severed by colonialism and reclaim autonomy over our legacy. Ceramics is a delicate dance with the elements and she welcomes them into her practice as teachers and healers. These totems of remembrance and rehabilitation are her offerings to the collective at this time.
- Issa Crawley is an artist currently based in Philadelphia. She recently completed her Bachelor's degree in Visual Studies at Temple University Tyler School of Art and Architecture. Her heritage and Black culture inspire her work, specifically her personal relationship with her culture, which inherently reflects and celebrates her youth and represents lived experiences. Through oil painting, digital art, and 3-D mediums, Issa maintains specific traditions and elements of her culture in playful and modern ways, highlighting aspects such as hair, beauty, and the use of color. She also loves fashion as an art form because of its freedom to express yourself and be unapologetically you.
- Billy G. Harvey combines dark cryptic imagery with a spiracle of playful softness for that razzle dazzle. All roasted in the form of hand bound journals. Playing in depths of bookbinding painting and photography. looking into the relationship that we have with the unknown and the unspoken. Billy uses black fabric with white with gold accents. Ornate gothic imagery incorporating elegant flora and details that are all stranded alone reaching to connect. Billy's work is dark, luxurious, grim and sad, that is always knotted to the imagery of the human connection.
- Chris Green brings life to walls and hearts throughout Norfolk, Virginia, where he creates art that speaks to the soul. As an artist, muralist, and art instructor, Chris sees the world through a lens of deep connection between people and nature, between past and present, between community and creativity. Green isn't just his last name; it's his artistic heartbeat. The color green flows through everything he creates, representing the life force that connects us all. Chris tells the African American story by weaving it into nature's narrative, showing how his community has always been rooted in strength, growth, and resilience just like the plants and trees that surround us.
