About this Event

Open to women only

Join Futures Theatre and The Bridge for a new project combining walking and creative writing.

In each session, we will walk together by the river and in local parks and then return to The Bridge to write together, inspired by our walk.

Every Tuesday for 8 weeks from 17:15-19:30 starting Tuesday, 19 May and finishing Tuesday, 7 July. It is recommended that you attend all eight sessions, but not required.

Meeting at The Bridge, 73-81 Southwark Bridge Road, SE1 0NQ

  • Led by Futures Theatre, hosted at The Bridge
  • Walking section will last approximately 30-45 minutes and will be in the area surrounding The Bridge
  • Creative Writing session back at The Bridge will include writing exercises inspired by our walk
  • Open to all women - no prior experience of creative writing needed!

Good to know

  • Some of our walks might include stairs (where there is no other alternative access)
  • You will need to attend both the walking and writing part of each session
  • We will sometimes walk by the river Thames, which can often be quite busy in the warmer weather. We will try to avoid crowds but sometimes we will have to walk through busy areas

Your contact information will be shared with Futures Theatre and The Bridge for session updates. Questions? Please contact us at [email protected] and [email protected].

About Futures Theatre

Futures Theatre are a women led theatre company based in Lambeth. We tell stories about women who have been forgotten, overlooked or ignored. Our creative engagement programme provides space for women to nurture their creative side; for those who haven’t found a way into the arts, for those looking to rediscover themselves through the arts and for those who want to celebrate themselves!

About The Bridge

The Bridge is a women’s health and wellbeing charity based in Southwark working to create inclusive and welcoming spaces for women of all identities to connect and thrive for over 90 years. We believe in a fairer society where women’s voices are heard and their health and wellbeing are valued and respected. Through our women-only gym, community café, wellbeing programmes and support groups, we help women care for themselves, support one another and challenge injustices together.

How to contribute

At The Bridge, we’re all about working together and building meaningful partnerships with the women in our community. We believe that everyone has something valuable to offer, and that means everyone has a role in shaping our work—because The Bridge belongs to all of us. We celebrate each person’s unique strengths and contributions, creating opportunities for everyone to get involved in a way that feels right for them.

Whether you give your time, skills, or financial support, every contribution means we’re working together to make The Bridge the space we want it to be.

One way to support our work is through our pay-what-you-can model, which ensures that our activities and events are accessible to all while allowing space for contributions to go towards helping us sustain what we do. Whatever you choose to give, it all makes a difference.

Want to get involved and contribute in other ways? We’d love to hear from you!
