About this Event
Maymana Arefin is a community organiser, artist and writer based in London. In 2020, Maymana founded @fungi.futures, a space to map radical alternative futures guided by her joy and passion for fungi. Through leading nature immersions, plant and fungi walks, her work focuses on deep rest and healing and restoring our communion with our non-human kin.
Join us in collaboration with Maymana for an Autumnal meet up, to learn about fungi. Please note, we will not be foraging during the workshop. Maymana will be leading us on a guided walk, providing information and an introductory education on fungi.
Meeting point:
Outside the Hive Community Centre, Hampstead Heath, Nassington Rd, London NW3 2TY
11am - 2pm

Weather:
Please check the weather priot to departure, as Autumn can be quite changable and it could rain. Please dress appropriately as we are outside for the duration of this event.
Kit:
Please bring water with you, and any other food or drink you may require.
We have some binoculars to loan, but please feel free to bring your own if you have.
Transport:
Take the Overground to:
- Hampstead Heath, to the south west, on the edge of the Heath
- Gospel Oak, to the south east, 1 minute walk
Take the Northern Line to:
- Hampstead, to the west, 10 minutes walk
- Golders Green, to the north for Golders Hill Park and the Heath Extension, 10 minutes walk
- Tufnell Park or Kentish town, to the south east, both around 14 minutes walk.
Bus:
The best bus options are the C2, C11, H3, 24, 46, 168, 210, 214 or 268, depending on where you’re coming from. Citymapper will tell you whether there’s an easy bus route you can catch from your location.
Accessibility:
A large number of paths are paved and suitable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
Dedicated parking spaces for Blue Badge holders are at all four main car parks (find them at Parliament Hill Lido, East Heath, Jack Straws, and Golders Hill Park car parks.)
It is possible that some of the fungi we find may be off path so may not be accessible.
