The screening is part of We Do Festival – Festival of Contemporary Polish Arts & Culture. This year, we present documentary films that explore the complexity of human existence, art and time in diverse ways.🎥 ABOUT THE FILM
DOUBLE TROUBLE (Polish: Kumotry, 2025) written and directed by Emilia Śniegoska.
Once upon a time in a Polish village in picturesque Bukovina, Romania, Hanka and Bronka are left alone by their deceased husbands and children who emigrated for work. Together, these two neighbours face everyday life with humour and persistence.
Their lives are marked by the rhythm of changing seasons and the farm work for which they have less and less strength. However, their perseverance is inexhaustible. They live separately but in fact, they are inseparable. Sometimes annoyed but never bored with each other, they share joys and tears. They work together and walk together in the forest. They sing and pray, remember the past and wonder what the future will bring.
Fighting to stay independent, the women will soon need to make a life-changing decision. Is the world of these two lifelong friends coming to an end? A film about women and told by women, Double Trouble is a heartwarming lesson in the humble acceptance of fate. Creative cooperation with a local Romanian folk band, also present on the screen, gives the documentary a captivating colour of magical realism.
Poland, Germany, 2025 | 69 min.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL 🌱
We Do Festival of Contemporary Polish Arts & Culture returns for its 8th edition this October, bringing five days of inspiring workshops, live performances, concerts and film screenings.
Celebrated as one of the most vibrant Polish cultural festivals abroad, We Do showcases contemporary art that is bold, inclusive and international in spirit.
The festival expresses Polish culture that is open, inclusive and diverse. It aims to reach an international audience, creating space for shared experiences and dialogue across cultures and borders.
This year's theme, Loop the Moment, is inspired by the figure eight, the symbol of infinity. It invites us to notice the cycles we live in: the moments, rituals, emotions and stories that return, repeat and transform over time. More than an event, it is an invitation to slow down, be present together and experience Polish creativity at its most dynamic.
Join us and become part of the loop! ∞
