🎥 ABOUT THE FILM PIANOFORTE (2023) directed by Jakub Piątek
"A gripping documentary that plays like a nail-biting sports thriller." – Sundance Film Festival Reviews
During the preliminary round, there are 160 of them. Then, about 90. Then 45. At last, only 12 lucky ones make it to the final. These are the contestants in the legendary International Chopin Piano Competition, held every five years in Warsaw, Poland.
Pianoforte follows an eclectic group of young musicians from around the world who have prepared since they were children for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Offering a rare behind-the-scenes look backstage at the triumphant highs and crushing lows of the competition, the filmmaker captures the intense pressure these musicians face in an experience that combines tears of exhaustion and despair with the ecstatic joy of playing.
Selected for the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, Pianoforte is both a testament to the power of remarkable music and an intimate coming-of-age portrait of young pianists navigating the rigors of competition, intense practice sessions, new friendships, lots of drama, and even more nerves.
"Piątek captures the grueling reality of elite musical competition, offering a deeply intimate and humanizing look at these young prodigies." – Variety

We Do Festival Contemporary Polish Arts & Culture: Loop the Moment
• Oslo • 21.–25. oktober 2026
.......
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:
We Do Festival of Contemporary Polish Arts & Culture returns for its 8th edition this October, bringing five days of inspiring workshops, live performances, concerts and film screenings. Celebrated as one of the most vibrant Polish cultural festivals abroad, We Do showcases contemporary art that is bold, inclusive and international in spirit.
The festival expresses Polish culture that is open, inclusive and diverse. It aims to reach an international audience, creating space for shared experiences and dialogue across cultures and borders.
This year's theme, Loop the Moment, is inspired by the figure eight, the symbol of infinity. It invites us to notice the cycles we live in: the moments, rituals, emotions and stories that return, repeat and transform over time. More than an event, it is an invitation to slow down, be present together and experience Polish creativity at its most dynamic.
Join us and become part of the loop! ∞
