Overview
A pottery workshop for families - for grown ups and their children - where each one of you will get to create something unique with clay using hand-building techniques, and enjoy being together, learning together and making together.
Pay on the day - £15 p/p + extra if you would like to fire your work (this is a unique special drop-in offer that we are trialling for 2026, ceramics workshops usually cost from £35 p/p)
What's included
- 2hrs Pottery class
- Break time with drink and snack!
- Pay on the day - plus you will then choose if you want to pay extra to get your work fired.
Themes and sessions
Each month we will be making something new exploring different hand-building techniques and decorating techniques.
- September - Capture leaf textures onto clay and create bowls, plates, tiles (Using slab building technique)
- October - Making bowls with unique features and let them become animal-bowls, flower-bowls..(Using pinching technique)
- November - Christmas gifts & decorations
- December - Something special and festive!
Firing your work into ceramics
If you would like to fire your work then we ask for an additional payment between £5 - £10 (you can choose on the day).
Firing is an energy and labour intensive process - a first bisque firing to 1000°C (taking around 4 days for the full cycle), glazing work and then a second firing to 1250°C.
You will be contacted when work is ready to be collected around 4-8 weeks after the workshop.
Making together side by side - grown up and child
The workshop is designed for parents/carers and their children to share the joy of making pottery side by side, inspired by approaches such as the Suzuki Method, where both adult and child learn together to enhance and deepen understanding. This is a unique inter-generational family ceramics workshop, teaching fundamental hand building techniques for all ages.
*All abilities are welcome, available for children aged 4-11.
Families with younger babies and toddlers are also welcome, please get in touch before booking so that we can make sure we'll be ready for you.
