What can happen when young people are given the space and creative tools to communicate their experiences? Everyone Has A Story explores exactly that.
This session will introduce you to Everyone Has A Story – a creative engagement project developed by young people supported by the Good Shepherd Centre. The project was delivered by Police Scotland's Youth Engagement team, the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit (SVRU) and Braw Talent, with funding from the Binks Hub.
The young people involved identified there was an absence of resources that put those with lived experience at the centre. They wanted to create an honest reflection of the realities, consequences and impacts of violence, creating posters and two films to open up meaningful conversations about what drives involvement in violence.
In this session you will have the opportunity to:
• Watch the films created by young people – with young people shaping every stage, from script development, voiceovers and acting.
• Hear from those who delivered the project – learn how it was developed and delivered and ask questions to those involved to learn about the creative process.
• Get creative yourself! Following a process inspired by the work of the young people involved in the project, you will use creative methods to provide your own contribution to conversations surrounding violence involving young people.
This is an opportunity to explore how creative approaches can unlock conversations that might otherwise feel difficult, uncomfortable, or impossible to have, while reflecting on how these approaches could influence your own practice and the way you support young people.
This session will take place in the Baillie Room.
