Get ready for something you’ve probably NEVER heard before! On Wednesday, December 9, Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave) welcomes ETHNOSONIC for their Linsmore debut, featuring special guest Deidrey Francois!
Have you ever heard a 2,000-year-old Armenian duduk blended with jazz, funk, and world music? If not, you’re in for a treat!
Meet Ethnosonic — Toronto’s own and the world’s only Armenian duduk-led jazz fusion band, bringing an ancient instrument into a completely new musical universe. The result? A sound that’s haunting, electrifying, and impossible to put into any familiar category.
With sold-out headlining shows across Toronto over the past two years, Ontario Arts Council support for their debut album ONE, and even an all-time tipping record at Toronto’s Drom Taberna, Ethnosonic has been making waves in the city’s live music scene. Now they’re bringing their unmistakable mix of ancient melodies, unconventional rhythms, and infectious grooves to the Danforth!
And here’s what makes this band truly different.
No covers. No tribute acts. No recycled jazz standards. Every piece is original — a bold fusion of contemporary jazz with the rich folk traditions of the Caucasus, Eastern Europe, and the Balkans.
Expect a mountain dance that gets your pulse racing, a single duduk note that brings the entire room to silence, funky rhythms that make it impossible to sit still, and a few musical surprises you definitely won’t see coming.
One ancient instrument. Seven musicians. A sound you’ve never heard before.
