Join us for free this Saturday, 10/24, starting at 1 PM, at Hellman Hollow in Golden Gate Park for ECSTATURDAY: HALLOWEEN — guided by our favorite Eduardo!! -- an afternoon micro-festival of freestyle movement, invigorating music, and playful connection, honoring the gentle turnover of summer into fall.Just as the natural world moves through cycles of emergence, transformation, release, and renewal, our inner lives undergo a continuous process of change. Seasons turn, relationships evolve, circumstances shift, and our ways of experiencing the world adapt into new forms. This Saturday, we’ll use intentional movement to facilitate this continual process of becoming within ourselves and the world around us.
We’ll begin by gathering together and setting intentions, ease into our bodies with a yoga warmup, and open into a conscious dance journey that gradually shifts toward greater connectivity before returning to integrate the experience in a closing circle.
The theme of transition is built intentionally into the music. Both DJ sets were specially co-produced by Consciousness Maven Nikki Johnson and Brazilian DJ Dario Vox for a conscious dance and contact improvisation program originally hosted at the University of West Georgia. Designed as playful experiential journeys, the sets devote special attention to the transitions between songs, as electronic rhythms melt, glide, tumble, and transform into one another to create a continuously evolving landscape for movement.

Rooted in Ecstatic Dance principles, Ecstaturday offers a welcoming outdoor space to move freely, connect inward and outward, and explore whatever wishes to emerge through dance and flow-state movement. There is no right way to move—simply tune into the music, follow your body, and let the journey unfold.
No contact improvisation experience is necessary! The second set simply features rhythms and textures more attuned to connectivity, offering opportunities for shared and relational movement while remaining equally welcoming to independent dance. Connection is always an invitation, never an expectation; please ensure consent before initiating physical contact and honor each dancer’s boundaries throughout the event, to preserve a safe space for all.
Pro Tips: Bring a yoga mat, blanket, beverages, snacks, food and drinks to share, layers of clothing, and anything else that will help you relax and enjoy the afternoon in the park. Dance toys—including fans, scarves, and flags—will be available, and everyone is also warmly invited to bring their own dance props and musical instruments to enhance the experience.
