About the play
A young woman is murdered on a dark Toronto street in November 1935. The police tell the public who killed her, where, when and how, but they don't explain why.
Fueled by a grieving father's desperate demand for answers, an ambitious rookie reporter races to expose the killer's motive before the countdown to the gallows runs out.
About the series
Alumnae’s Next Stage is a monthly reading series with dramaturged and directed script readings of new plays by our New Play Development (NPD) group members, representing a ‘next stage’ in the development of works-in-progress. These readings are directed and performed by members, with informed feedback from the audience.
