Dominique Pifarély is a violinist, improviser and composer.
As a soloist, he is in demand on both the French and international scenes, and his work as an improviser is particularly highlighted in solo recitals, as well as in a duo with pianist François Couturier, or in a trio with clarinettist Louis Sclavis and cellist Vincent Courtois. He also performs with his quartet. His interest in poetry and literature leads him to collaborate regularly with the soprano and improviser Géraldine Keller, as well as with French contemporary authors such as François Bon, Violaine Schwartz and Claude Favre.
Curiosity, fearlessness and versatility carry Lina Andonovska’s artistry around the globe. Andonovska is a rare breed in the flute world; a name that you’ll discover on both the pages of Rolling Stone and the Australian Chamber Orchestra roster, she has not only cultivated partnerships with leading artists including Louis Andriessen, Donnacha Dennehy and Claire Chase, but also deep community ties from Timor-Leste to Tokyo’s Wonder Site.
She has recently been appointed as flautist of multiple Grammy Award-winning ensemble Eighth Blackbird. A sought-after collaborator, this season she appears as a guest musician with Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Recherche, and stargaze. Equally at home with improvisation and the written page, she is critically acclaimed for her interpretation of new music with Rolling Stone Magazine hailing her performance at Bang On A Can Summer Festival as “superbly played...”
Japanese born, Irish resident Izumi Kimura has performed extensively throughout the country and abroad since moving to Ireland in 1995. She has worked with some of the leading performers and ensembles from both disciplines of classical and jazz, including RTE Symphony Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra, Crash Ensemble, Michael D'Arcy, Mia Cooper, Ken Edge, Benjamin Dwyer, Bill Dowdall, Cora Venus Lunny, and many more from the world of classical music, and with jazz and improvising musicians including Barry Guy, Gerry Hemingway, Tommy Halferty, Ronan Guilfoyle, Michael Buckley, Joe O'Callaghan, Oki Itaru, Dominique Pifarély, Benoít Delbecq, Stéphane Payen, Sarah Buechi and many more.
This trio project was conceived in the Centre Culturel Irlandais during Izumi Kimuras residency funded by the CCI and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Arts Office.
