Join Afrodesiac Collective for a warm, colorful evening inspired by Diwali — the Festival of Lights, one of the most widely celebrated festivals across India and around the world.
From 4:00 - 6:00 PM, we’ll slow down and get creative as we paint and decorate beautiful traditional clay diyas (oil lamps).And of course, no Chai & Paint evening would be complete without something delicious to enjoy. Relax with a warm cup of chai and light Indian snacks, including samosas, while you paint, chat, and connect with fellow guests.
Diya lamps are an important symbol associated with Diwali, representing light, celebration, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness. During this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll receive your own clay diyas to paint and decorate, with plenty of creative freedom to make each piece uniquely yours.
Along the way, we’ll explore the cultural significance of Diwali, learning about the traditions surrounding the Festival of Lights, the role of diyas in celebrations, and some of the stories and customs connected to this special time of year.
No painting experience or prior knowledge of Indian culture is needed. Just bring your curiosity and creativity.
Come solo, bring a friend, or make it a unique date night. You’ll leave with your own hand-painted diyas and, hopefully, a little more curiosity and appreciation for Indian culture than when you arrived.

- Time: 4:00 - 6:00 PM
- Skill Level: Beginner-friendly
- Class Size: 4–12 participants
- Duration: Approx. 2 hours
- What’s Included: Clay diyas, painting supplies, chai, and light Indian snacks including samosas
- What to Wear: Comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting a little paint on — aprons will be provided
- Pricing: Price is per person. Each guest must have their own ticket, or you can purchase the two-ticket special if available.
- BYOB: Welcome if you’d like to bring an additional beverage to enjoy during the workshop
- Experience Required: None! No painting experience or prior knowledge of Indian culture is necessary.
