Building upon the success of last summer’s Dementia Stories DC: Part 1, this experience invites families, caregivers, community members, and advocates to come together for an engaging afternoon of theater, visual arts, and resource-sharing.
Dementia Stories DC profiled in East of the River.
Through interactive playback theater, photography, and personal storytelling, we will explore the experiences of individuals living with memory loss and the family members, friends, and caregivers who walk alongside them.
About Verbal Gymnastics. Founded by John Johnson, Verbal Gymnastics is a DC-based theatre company that provides storytelling workshops, playback theater performances, and performance poetry.
What is playback theatre? "An interactive, improvisational form of theater where audience members share real-life stories and watch trained actors and musicians enact them on the spot."
Dementia may change how we remember. It does not diminish who we are.
Join us as we continue to honor the stories, celebrate the lives, and acknowledge the people behind every memory.
