Curator Caitlyn Bird leads a tour of tókša | I Will See You Again, discussing artist Jaida Grey Eagle’s works and the curatorial framing of the exhibition.
Bird will then facilitate a workshop that introduces participants to beading techniques, inspired by Grey Eagle’s beaded fringe earrings. In many Indigenous communities, beadwork has long been an act of sustainability, care, and connection, as well as a powerful form of storytelling. This workshop shares this practice and tradition with participants, providing an experiential learning opportunity that deepens the connection to Grey Eagle’s works.
No prior beading experience is required. All materials will be supplied.
Free, open to the public. Registration required. Light refreshments will be served.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
On view in the Instructional Centre atrium at U of T Scarborough, tókša | I Will See You Again (August 17, 2026 – July 31, 2027) features works by Jaida Grey Eagle and is curated by Caitlyn Bird. The exhibition brings together cyanotype photographs and beaded earrings that reflect Grey Eagle’s relationship to land, culture, and storytelling. Grounded in lived experience, and motivated to reclaim visual sovereignty, Grey Eagle overrides a long history of misrepresentation of Lakota communities, particularly through photography. tókša | I Will See You Again is part of an ongoing process of remembering, reconnecting, and reclamation.
The exhibition is presented by the Doris McCarthy Gallery and supported by the Toronto Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts.
