Who Bears the Weight: A Community Game Night Experience
Join us for an interactive and thought-provoking community game night centered around Who Bears the Weight — a custom block-stacking experience designed to spark meaningful dialogue about historical inequity, redlining, and racial injustice.
Inspired by the real impact of housing discrimination and systemic barriers, each block represents policies, practices, and lived experiences that have shaped our communities over generations. As participants carefully remove and stack pieces, the physical tension of the game mirrors the social weight carried by marginalized communities — prompting reflection, conversation, and shared understanding.
Throughout the evening, guided discussion prompts will connect gameplay to topics such as redlining, wealth gaps, housing access, and structural inequities. Together, we’ll explore:
- How historical policies continue to affect neighborhoods today
- Who has carried the greatest burdens — and why
- What accountability and repair can look like
- How we can collectively build stronger, more equitable systems
This isn’t just about identifying problems — it’s about cultivating solution-based thinking. Participants will leave not only with deeper awareness, but with practical ideas and community-driven strategies for creating change.
Whether you’re new to these conversations or deeply engaged in equity work, Who Bears the Weight offers a welcoming, interactive space to learn, connect, and imagine a more just future — together.
