What is Daggerheart?
Daggerheart is a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game of brave heroics and vibrant worlds collaboratively built with your gaming group. The ebbs and flows of Hope and Fear shape the story, while the card system brings your characters’ backgrounds and capabilities to life with dynamic illustrations. With a focus on narrative and character-driven stories, Daggerheart encourages every player to be a storyteller.
No Experience Needed!
Whether you are a seasoned tabletop veteran or completely new to tabletop roleplaying games, you are more than welcome at our table!
- Learn as You Play: You do not need to memorize every rule before showing up. We will teach and explain the core mechanics dynamically as the story unfolds and situations arise.
- Get a Head Start (Recommended): While you don't need to know the entire system inside and out, we strongly encourage all players to familiarize themselves with the basics beforehand. It makes jumping into the action much smoother and faster!

Bring Your Hero to Life: Character Creation
A huge part of the magic in Daggerheart comes from bringing your own imagination directly to the table. Playing a hero shaped by your personal touch (your unique backstory, quirks, ancestry, and playstyle) is where the story really finds its heart. Because of this, we strongly encourage everyone to come with a character already made!
How to Build Your Character Ahead of Time
- Grab the Free Materials: Download the official character sheets and class guides at the .
- Follow the Video Guide: Building a hero takes only a few minutes! Follow this step-by-step walkthrough:

Need a Hand? Arrive 15 Minutes Early!
If you run into questions, get stuck on a step, or aren't completely sure how to finalize your sheet, don't worry; just arrive 15 minutes before start time. We’ll gladly help you wrap up your character so you’re confident and ready when session time begins.
Just Want to Explore? Premades Are Available
If you are brand new to the hobby or just want to try out the system without diving into character creation, we will have a limited number of pre-generated characters available on a first-come, first-served basis.
What Else to Bring: Dice, Miniatures & Cards
To make table play as smooth and personal as possible, you are welcome, and encouraged, to bring your own gear!
- Dice: Feel free to bring your favorite polyhedral dice set. In Daggerheart, you will especially want two distinct twelve-sided dice (d12s) to serve as your Hope and Fear dice, along with standard damage dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, etc.).
- Miniatures: Bring a miniature, token, or pawn that represents your hero on the battle map.
- Domain & Ability Cards: If you create a character ahead of time, we recommend printing out your domain cards and ancestry/community cards so you have quick reference to your abilities during play. Printable cards are available for free under the .
Don't Have Gear? We've Got You Covered!
Don't worry if you don't own any of the above; we will have a supply of extra dice and cards at the table ready for use.
Please note that our loaner supplies are limited, so players using them may need to share. If you prefer having your own set right in front of you throughout the session, bringing your own dice and printing your cards in advance is the best way to go!
Leave It at the Door: Our Table Atmosphere
Tabletop gaming is our escape; a shared space to step away from the daily grind, tell thrilling stories, and roll some dice together.
To keep the focus where it belongs, we ask everyone to leave real-world politics, daily frustrations, personal anxieties, and heavy outside debates at the door.
- Our Priority: Creating a welcoming, fun, and relaxing environment for every single person in the room.
- The Goal: For the duration of this event, the real world stays outside. Inside, we are entirely focused on having a fantastic time adventuring together in the world of Daggerheart.
Bring your sense of wonder, your collaborative spirit, and your willingness to play. Let's make some great memories at the table!
Expected Behavior
All participants are expected to conduct themselves with adult agency, emotional maturity, and mutual respect:
- Collaborative Play: Play to ensure the table as a whole succeeds and enjoys the experience. Avoid Main Character Syndrome, share the spotlight, respect your GM’s preparation, and support your fellow players.
- Personal Autonomy: Recognize that every player and GM at the table has the right to their own creative choices within the parameters of the game.
- Informed Consent: Respect the personal property and physical boundaries of others. Always ask before handling someone else’s dice, rulebooks, or personal items.
- Welcoming Demeanor: Greet new players with patience and hospitality. We congregate to build connections; leaving elitism and gatekeeping at the door is essential to that mission.
Prohibited Behavior
To protect the integrity of the space, certain behaviors are strictly incompatible with our community. The following actions will result in immediate removal from the event and a potential permanent ban:
- Harassment & Discrimination: Any verbal, physical, or written harassment, targeting, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
- Malicious In-Game Behavior: Using the phrase "It's what my character would do" as an excuse to target, bully, or intentionally ruin the experience of another player at the table. We draw a strict line between dramatic character-to-character conflict and genuine player-to-player hostility.
- Unwanted Social Persistence: Repeatedly pursuing unwanted social contact, romantic advances, or attention with a participant after they have indicated discomfort or a desire to be left alone.
- Entitled or Disruptive Outbursts: Bringing personal grievances, external political arguments, or a mindset of blame into the gaming environment. Players who throw tantrums over rules interpretations, dice rolls, or narrative outcomes will be asked to leave.
Ticket Types & Check-In Guidelines
Player Ticket (Limited Seats)
A Player ticket reserves your seat at the gaming table. Because table space is strictly limited to keep the game engaging and manageable, these tickets are capped.
Spectator Ticket (Watch & Standby)
A Spectator ticket allows you to experience the atmosphere, watch the drama unfold, and learn how the system runs in real time. Beyond watching, spectators also have opportunities to participate:
- Standby Priority: If a registered player fails to arrive on time, open seats will be reassigned to spectators based on the order in which they checked in.
- Guest NPC Appearances: Depending on the table and if the GM offers the chance, spectators who are interested may be handed the reins to briefly voice or play a non-player character (NPC)!
Crucial Note on Check-In:
Please check in with the organizers as soon as you arrive!
- Registered Players: Must check in before the scheduled start time to guarantee their seat is not released.
- Spectators: Standby seating is determined strictly by check-in order, so arriving and checking in early maximizes your chance of claiming an open table slot!
Can’t Make It? Pass the Torch!
Because player seats are strictly limited, every single spot counts. If your plans change and you can no longer attend as a player, please be kind to your fellow adventurers and cancel or release your ticket as early as possible.
Life happens, we completely understand! Releasing your ticket ahead of time ensures that someone on the waitlist or standby roster has the chance to claim a seat at the table, build a character, and join the adventure.
