About this Event
The Central Regional Sharing Circle provides a space for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students to come together and share their experiences of mental health and well-being in post-secondary settings. The event is supported by a Knowledge Keeper or Elder.
Grounded in a wholistic lens, the circle will explore students’ experiences, challenges, successes, and opportunities for improvement. Together, students will reflect on their experiences on campus, how institutions can better support Indigenous student mental health and well-being, and what resources and supports are most needed.
Building on three years of CICMH’s Indigenous needs assessment survey, this gathering creates an opportunity to listen to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis student voices and help guide CICMH’s future work. Discussions will also explore how CICMH can continue to provide meaningful support through toolkits, infosheets, webinars, courses, and workshops.
Guided by the values of respect, confidentiality, non-judgment, and safety, the circle offers a supportive space for students to share their experiences and knowledge openly. We invite First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students attending Ontario colleges, universities, and Indigenous institutes to join this important conversation.
The gathering will open with a message from an Elder/Knowledge Keeper, followed by smudging and the sharing circle, and close with reflections from the Elder/Knowledge Keeper. Light refreshments and gift cards will be provided for attendees.
