About this Event
A year ago we opened our doors in Moabit with a wall of books we loved, a beautiful marble and steel desk, and the hope that Berlin would want a place like this as much as we did.
You did, and you have filled this shop with conversation, curiosity and the kind of community we dreamed about, so on Saturday 28 November we want to celebrate with all of you.
From opening until 6pm there will be 10% off everything in the shop, so come and browse, pick up something you've been circling for months or start on your Christmas list early. We'll then close for a short while to set the room for the evening, and at 7pm we're overjoyed to welcome Carmen Maria Machado, who will be in conversation with Chapters founder Sharmaine Lovegrove about her writing, from Her Body and Other Parties and In the Dream House to the stories still to come. Our heartfelt thanks go to our friends at the American Academy in Berlin for hosting Carmen and co-organising this evening with us. We can't think of a writer we would rather share our first birthday with, and we hope you'll be there to raise a glass with us.
