Formed in January 2026, Crescendo Quartet is a young and vibrant string quartet featuring four musicians aged 8 to 13 —— Cathy Chen (12) and Elliot Lim (13) on violin, Kaden Khew (12) on viola and Madeline Sim (8) on cello. The name, Crescendo, holds a double meaning that perfectly defines them. Musically, it reflects their dynamic, budding artistry on stage, and literally, it captures the musical journey of four young musicians growing up together through their music.
Bound by a shared interest for classical music and passion for performing, the quartet is keen to develop their skills in chamber music and captivate audiences with their musicality, youthful energy and joyful stage presence. The quartet balances honing their craft with a genuine friendship that shines through in every performance. Coached by Mr Ng Yu-Ying (T’ang Quartet), the quartet has also received masterclasses from Mr Jonathan Ong (Verona Quartet) and Dr Yang Shuxiang.

The Bencoolen Quartet is a Singapore-based string quartet comprising violinists Liam Young and Jesper Tai, violist Chang Zi Yi, and cellist Shavaun Toh. The quartet takes its name from Bencoolen Street, where its members rehearse.
Since forming in 2024, the quartet has performed at concerts and events across Singapore, including the Singapore Chamber Music Festival (SCMF). In 2026, they were selected for SCMF's Advanced Quartet Program, working alongside seasoned chamber musicians, and were awarded Gold with Honours at the Singapore Raffles International Music Competition. Their development has been shaped by coaching from eminent musicians of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Tang Quartet, Concordia Quartet and coaches from SCMF.
For this recital, the quartet performs the second and fourth movements of Ravel's String Quartet in F major.
The Bencoolen Quartet hopes to make chamber music more accessible to a wider audience and inspire more people to come together, connect, and make music together.Conservatory and the Concordia Quartet.
Vértice Quartet
Foong Shu Yan Ashley / Violin
Siew Xuan Ying / Violin
Goh Kai'en, Skyler / Viola
Lev Alieiev / Cello
Formed in 2025, the Vértice Quartet comprises students of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. Named after the Italian word for "summit", the quartet reflects its shared aspiration of striving towards new heights of artistic growth, musical excellence, and meaningful music-making together.
Coached by Dr Yang Shuxiang and Mr Leslie Tan, the quartet has also worked with Mr Ng Yu-Ying and Mr Ang Chek Meng of the T'ang Quartet. Earlier this year, the ensemble participated in the Advanced Quartet Programme, where they worked with renowned chamber musicians including Kirsten Docter and Sandy Yamamoto, culminating in a showcase performance alongside the programme's participating ensembles. The quartet has further benefited from a chamber music masterclass with Paul Cassidy of the internationally acclaimed Brodsky Quartet.
United by a shared love for chamber music, the Vértice Quartet seeks to connect meaningfully with audiences while continuing to develop its artistic voice as an ensemble.
