Boris Krajny is one of the most distinguished mature Czech pianists, born in Moravian city Kroměříž where the movie Amadeus was filmed. Even before finishing the Kromeriz Conservatory of Music, the best Czech pedagogue pianist of the day, František Maxián, has chosen him as his private student. Later, after graduating from the Prague Academy of Music AMU, he continued to study with another outstanding Czech pianist, Ivan Moravec. B. Krajný was a prize winner at numerous important competitions such as the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium, Sydney piano competitions or a Citta di Senigallia in Italy. These successes opened the way for him in Japan, Malaysia, Australia, South Africa and the Americas. In the USA, he performed with Milwaukee and New Jersey Symphony orchestras, and with the Prague Chamber Orchestra and the Czech Philharmonic as a soloist at their appearances in Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center in Washington and other US cities. In Canada, he played with Toronto and Edmonton symphony orchestras and as a recitalist on numerous occasions, e.g. in Edmonton at the Polish Culture Festival in 2011. Other festivals included Berlin, Salzburg, Prague, Constanz, Besancon (an all Janacek concert) and more. His prize winning recordings include Poulenc, Rousell and Honneger concertos with the Prague Chamber Orchestra, as well as with Prague Symphony Orchestra under Jiří Bělohlávek (Prokofjev, Mozart and Bartok). Mr. Krajný recorded numerous chamber music pieces, including complete works of Maurice Ravel and and works of Honneger, Janáček, Chopin, Bach, Suk, etc. He is a foremost interpreter of vast and largely unknown piano repertoire of Bedřich Smetana, the oldest of the four internationally famous Czech composers. B. Krajný resides in Prague where he is a professor of performance piano at his Alma Mater, Prague's Academy of Music (HAMU).
