Learn traditional Brazilian drumming directly from Luciano Xavier “Kekeu”, a master percussionist and cultural educator, in a fun, welcoming, and high-energy atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned drummer or a complete beginner, this workshop is open to all who want to experience the joy, community, and movement of Brazilian music. Instruments will be provided!
Luciano Xavier “Kekeu” is a musician, cultural educator, and leader in African-Brazilian, African Diaspora, and Indigenous Caboclo traditions. Born in Salvador, Bahia, Luciano began drumming in Candomblé temples as a child. He studied percussion at Ilê Aiyê and became a musician with Projeto Axé. His teachers include Dailha Mendes, Dandha da Hora, Marivaldo, Mário Bomba, and Givaldo Pereira. He later joined Gicá, Projeto Axé’s dance company, where he trained with the late Augusto Omolu. Luciano brings deep cultural roots, lived experience, and passion to every rhythm he shares.
