About this Event
Backstage @ the Sanctuary: An Afternoon with Daryl Davis
From the Ku Klux Klan to Chuck Berry: a story you have to hear to believe
Join us as Daryl Davis makes his record-breaking third appearance at backstage at the sanctuary for an afternoon of music and conversation with a one of a kind human being.
Daryl will talk about his decades as a world class musician and as an anti-racism activist. He will talk about what sent him on a life long journey that transformed the boogie-woogie piano man into one of the most powerful voices in American race relations convincing scores of former members of the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nation and other white supremacists to renounce racism. Leading the conversation will be the ever-lively NBC-4 journalist Mark Segraves.
Daryl will also take to the grand piano in the sanctuary to show us why he has spent years both as a band leader and as a band member with such superstars as Chuck Berry, BB King, Bo Didley, The Drifters, and Percy Sledge.
Backstage @ the Sanctuary gets you up close for the stories behind the music in an intimate acoustic setting. Seating is limited, so don't miss out.
This event is brought to you in part by the After Dark Fund, which supports musicians in need, and the Palisades Hub, your community gathering space.
