About this Event
Babaylan and Baybayin - Gender and Ancestral Plant Medicine in Filipino Culture" an “Inspired Filipino” project in which we will use plants - flowers, fruits, vegetables - as medicine and offering in the form of food, wellness support or creative expression. This project comprises of six workshops where the artist will share their process of utilizing plants into a form of healing and spiritual art: for example, lavender, pandan, moringa (malunggay), jackfruit.
The workshops will all be IN PERSON and requires participation from all who attend. This may look like bringing vegetables and food to the workshop, processing vegetables on site, helping with set up and clean up and sharing your own knowledge about plants.
As a queer neo-Babaylan, my main role is to hold space for those who need healing and support. This work helps me grow in my own journey towards elderhood. Please complete the application form to participate in this intergenerational circle and receive details. All workshops will be held in South Seattle. Familiarity with Filipino language and/or culture is helpful for some portions of the curriculum. Preregistration is required.
