Martin Rowney will give an artist's talk about his sculpture exhibition NEXUS: The Common Piano exploring themes of music and community, on display in the Rusten House Fever Ward Gallery from September 26 - October 18. Learn more about Martin's practice, and delve into the inspiration behind his work.
Martin Rowney's sculptural practice explores concepts of history, archaeology and identity, working with sculptural assemblage using found and collected material and objects. Nexus: The Common Piano reflects upon the familiar domestic piano as an embodiment of community. Pianos are an inherently communal instrument. Each old piano has its own story, and encapsulates those of players, singers, dancers, composers, and piano makers.
This talk forms part of the Queanbeyan-Palerang Arts Trail.
