In this 2 hour workshop, you'll explore the unique technique of ghostworking, a process that merges images, text and texture through layered acrylic glazes on magazine pages. Enjoy a glass of wine or bubbles included at the start of the session.
Ghostworking involves applying translucent washes of paint to printed imagery, allowing fragments of text and visuals to ghost through the surface. This process creates works rich in depth and serendipity. You’ll come away with your very own ghostworked collages - a still life and whatever else you choose to create.
All materials will be supplied.
Ray Monde is a contemporary paper artist working primarily with paper-mâché and collage. Monde's works are in collections in Australia and internationally, and has been a finalist in National Still Life Award, Blake Prize, Paddington Art Prize, National Works on Paper and the Doug Moran Portrait Prize.
This workshop is part of The Places That Shape Us exhibition, which examines queer lived experiences in regional Australia through the large-scale paper sculptural forms of Ray Monde. Based in Braidwood NSW, the artist weaves his own memories with those of his peers and collaborators. The exhibition features as part of the QPRC 20th Anniversary Arts Trail.
