ARJEN — CRAZY LITTLE THINGSSolo Exhibition | 7 November – 30 December 2026
Marian Cramer Projects is pleased to present CRAZY LITTLE THINGS, a solo exhibition by Dutch artist ARJEN, featuring a new body of paintings that further develops his distinctive approach to contemporary figuration.
Known for his unconventional interpretation of the human form, ARJEN challenges traditional anatomical representation by deconstructing and reassembling the body into unexpected, often surreal compositions. Familiar features are rearranged, proportions are distorted and recognisable forms take on new identities. The resulting figures occupy an intriguing space between abstraction and figuration, balancing humour, ambiguity and an underlying sense of intimacy.
In CRAZY LITTLE THINGS, ARJEN continues to explore the expressive possibilities of the human figure. Through subtle shifts in scale, unusual combinations of bodily forms and carefully considered compositions, he creates images that are at once playful and unsettling. What initially appears simple reveals a more complex visual language, inviting viewers to reconsider their perception of the familiar.
Working in oil on linen, ARJEN combines smooth colour transitions with sharply defined contours and an exceptional sense of precision. His paintings reflect an ongoing dialogue with art history, drawing on the simplification of modernist painting and the distortions of surrealism, while maintaining a visual identity entirely his own.
ARJEN has developed a strong international exhibition profile, with solo exhibitions at KÖNIG GALERIE in Berlin and Richard Heller Gallery in Los Angeles, as well as exhibitions at Aout Gallery in Beirut. His work has also been presented at TEFAF Maastricht and TEFAF New York through the Spanish gallery Mayoral.
With CRAZY LITTLE THINGS, Marian Cramer Projects brings together a new series of paintings that highlights ARJEN's continuing exploration of the human form and his ability to transform familiar imagery into something unexpected.
