On Friday, October 2, I’m bringing Kool Grooves back to Dazzle for an evening celebrating the music I carry with me—the standards I love, the spirituals that ground me, and the original songs that give voice to my own journey.
The evening will also feature the first live performance of my newest original song, “The Blacker the Berry," a song that celebrates a dark-skinned woman’s journey from rejection to self-love, while at the same time challenges colorism and affirming the beauty, strength, and worth of Black women and girls.
This live debut deepens my commitment to being an artist who not only interprets familiar songs and sayings but also creates original music that tells meaningful stories."
