The past collides with the precarious present as filmmaker Steve McQueen examines the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam, connecting the city's ordeal with its modern journey through protests and a global pandemic.Adapting Bianca Stigter’s monumental book of biographies and testimonies, "Occupied City" (2023, 226 min) redefines how stories of the Second World War are told onscreen.
