ALLGOOD: A Special Screening and Live Conversation

A special screening of ALLGOOD followed by a live conversation about cancer, psychedelic-assisted therapy and the fear of dying.
About this Event

What if treating terminal illness also meant treating the fear of dying?

When Steve “Buck” Allgood—a young father and cable technician in northern Ontario—goes to the hospital with a headache, an MRI reveals an aggressive brain tumour. His prognosis: nine to twelve months.

What follows is not only a medical crisis, but a profound psychological one. Facing the possibility of leaving his wife and young children behind, Buck struggles with depression, fear and the overwhelming reality of his own mortality.

ALLGOOD follows Buck as he undergoes psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy in an effort not to cure his cancer, but to change his relationship with living and dying.

Seven years later, Buck is still here.

Join us at Hot Docs Cinema for a special screening of this intimate 40-minute documentary, followed by a live conversation bringing together voices from the film and the worlds of cancer care, mental health, spirituality and psychedelic-assisted therapy.

The evening will explore a question medicine is increasingly being asked to consider: when someone is facing a life-limiting illness, what does it mean to treat the whole person?
This special screening is presented in partnership with Rev. Dr. Geoffrey Ready of Trinity College at the University of Toronto, with community support from MAPS Canada, TheraPsil, the Psychedelic Association of Canada, the Ontario Psychedelic Practitioners Alliance and the Spirit Plant Medicine Conference.
The evening will also include remarks from curator Colin Fleming of the Royal Ontario Museum, connecting the conversation to the ROM’s current exhibition. Screening attendees will also receive a special discount to visit the exhibition.
This is a Pay What You Can event. Our suggested ticket price is $20, but we want the screening to be accessible to everyone. Choose the ticket level that works for you. All tickets provide the same general admission seating; higher-priced tickets help offset event costs and make lower-cost admission possible. We want this conversation to be accessible to patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, students and anyone whose life has been touched by cancer.
