Chicotom
___________
Zeuthen/Thomsen/Svejnar is a new inter-european trio with Danish saxophone legend Jesper Zeuthen in front. Zeuthen is one of the most important figures on the Danish jazz scene - with his distinctive voice he has been a force of nature since the 1960s in countless groups as leader or sideman (famously the jazz-rock group Blue Sun).
He is joined by Czech drummer Jakub Svejnar and Danish bassist Asger Thomsen. Both belong to a younger generation of highly original musicians active on the experimental and improvised music scene. Together the trio meets in an open field of listening, presence and spontaneous creation, where experience and curiosity intertwine and new musical paths can emerge.
Jakub Švejnar (*1995) is a drummer based in Prague who focuses primarily on free improvisation, experimental jazz and contemporary music with a variety of groups, including Jungle Debris, Pudlax, Grandmothers Favourite, Aid Kid live, Luboš Soukup Quartet, Dust in the Groove, Prague Improvisation Orchestra etc.
He is a sought-after collaborator in the fields of alternative and experimental jazz, free improvisation, and performative and dance projects and has participated in premieres of contemporary music pieces with composers such as Petr Hora, Haštal Hapka, Michal Wróblewsky, and Elia Moretti.
Asger Thomsen is a bass player and composer living in Copenhagen, Denmark. He works primarily in the field of contemporary improvised music. With a physical, detail-oriented approach and a rich palette of sounds often strengthened by the use of unconventional extended techniques, he aims for contrast and dynamic forward motion in his music. Thomsen has established himself as a versatile improviser on the Copenhagen scene, and tours internationally. He is often working in ad hoc settings with other improvisers and with projects such as Rhizom, Engel/Thomsen, and a solo project. He is also organising the DIY concert series Absolute Music in Copenhagen.

_______
chicotom plays "se moja el potito"
"Se moja el potito" stems from a Chilean expression that literally refers to getting one's "little bottom" wet; It is used playfully to suggest taking a risk, venturing into something new, or exposing oneself to an unfamiliar situation.
Ahead of the release of his debut album *se moja el potito*—issued under the heteronym chicotom—Tomás Gubbins will perform at Mayhem in the frame of Absolute Music concert series. His solo set (featuring Chilean guitar and vocals) places a handful of songs within a performative "lagoon" where concrete references can—or might—dissolve, flirting with the possibility of transforming into "an other" or making contact with "the unknown."
The acoustic guitar’s territorial landmark can be heard in the strumming patterns and tunings drawn from the *canto a lo poeta* tradition. Likewise, several of the lyrics are written—with a deliberate touch of clumsiness—using the *décima* structure (ABBAACCDDC).
*Se moja el potito* is set for release later this year via the international label Basural Records (DK/US/CL).
