Abrasive Trees
"Colossal...explodes into a monumental extended climax that’s absolutely killer" - Aural Aggravation
Described as ‘utterly enticing’ by Louder Than War and ‘a transcendent experience of euphoric dissonance’ by Post-Punk.com, Abrasive Trees take their name from a Buddhist description of a hallucination-like nightmare realm.
Led by Matthew Rochford (Silver Moth/Rothko), the band display a willingness to experiment alongside a sound that sits loosely within a post-punk, post-rock, or even prog aesthetic. Exploring themes of loss, turmoil, and spiritual realisation, they use a combination of distorted and reverb-drenched guitars, intricate melodies and driving drum beats to create a sense of atmosphere and intensity. When they use lyrics they’re often cryptic and evocative, painting vivid pictures of complex emotional landscapes.
After several releases lauded by Echoes and Dust, Aural Aggravation, The Big Takeover, and BBC Introducing, the band are preparing to release their much anticipated debut studio album. Abrasive Trees weave fierce threads of sound into something both haunting and transcendent. On stage, they summon a raw, immersive energy—each performance a spellbinding journey into the unknown.
“Post-punk psychedelia…Abrasive Trees deal an evocative and mysteriously mystical, poetic, dark energy that is utterly enticing”
Louder Than War
"Colossal...explodes into a monumental extended climax that’s absolutely killer and one hundred percent exhilarating"
Aural Aggravation
“There is something brilliant about watching a band this adept at their trade”
The Big Takeover
Mt Onsra
“A testament to the unimaginable and inimitable power of music to get the world through the hardest and most hopeless times.” - Distorted Sound
Based in the Southwest of England, UK, Mt.Onsra are a multi-instrumentalist duo who create a unique blend of alternative rock. Celebrated by the BBC R1 Rock Show, the band just played an electrifying set at ArcTangent Festival.
Their story began years ago: the two first met in 1995, played together in a band, then went their separate ways — each pursuing different musical and personal paths. In 2020, amid the global lockdowns, they reconnected and committed to writing one song together. That single spark blossomed into ten tracks, culminating in their debut album Written in Silence, which was composed, recorded, and produced entirely remotely — the duo didn’t even speak until the record was completed.
Mt. Onsra’s music is an emotional, atmospheric journey — combining haunting vocal textures, layered instrumentation, and shifting dynamics. Their influences include bands like Tool, Slint, Midlake, and QOTSA, and they oscillate between moments of fragility and full-on intensity.
In 2024, they followed up with their second album Sacred Time, this time working together more directly in the same space, and exploring broader sonic landscapes.
If you like emotive, textured rock that bridges introspection and catharsis, Mt. Onsra offers a compelling, evolving voice in that space.
“This is not just a testament to Mt. Onsra, but also a testament to the unimaginable and inimitable power of music to get the world through the hardest and most hopeless times.” - Distorted Sound (8/10)
“Mt. Onsra display so much creative chemistry it’s a delight to be part of their journey... It’s a complicated, awkward yet beautiful record filled with engaging ideas and textures. Listen and you’ll wonder just what they’ll create next, and that’s a real endorsement.” - Punktastic
“This sounds like if Tool, Deftones and Radiohead had a baby.” - Smokey Ramirez
— Trash Talkers Youtube Channel
“From the melodic to the brutal, the expansive and ambitious sound of the album is mesmerising. Each track will take you on a beautiful journey of sonic discovery and with a run time of just over half an hour, you’ll be eager to relive that trip multiple times.” - Full Pelt Music ★★★★
Mustelids
"Anglo-Kernow post-rock"
Blending cinematic soundscapes with layered guitars, and textured samples, they craft music that sits somewhere between beauty and unease. Drawing comparisons to early Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mustelids live shows across the South West — including at Things Happen Here — immerse audiences in sweeping, loud, emotive sound.
