About this Event
We’re delighted to welcome Professor Lorenzo Bairati from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy, and Manuela Spinelli of Euro-Toques Ireland for a conversation exploring Italy’s gastronomic heritage and what we here in Ireland can learn from it. They'll be discussing what makes a food truly connected to its place, and how can we protect the traditions, skills and communities behind it.
Together, they’ll look at Italy’s DOP and IGP designations, how they protect the quality and identity of regional foods, and why these protections are so important for producers, tradition, and the places they come from.
And, what better way to learn about and appreciate Italy's gastronomic heritage than with tastings of cheese and wine! Throughout the conversation, guests will sample a specially selected range of Italian food and and wines that carry protected designations, bringing the connection between food, tradition and place to life.
The event will be kindly supported by the Embassy of Italy in Dublin and the Italian Trade Agency
