About this Event
Please join us on Thursday, November 5 at 4:30 p.m. at 349 Ontario Street to celebrate the launch of A Garden for All, a new mural by lead artist Caitlin Taguibao at TNG! We will also be celebrating the completion of the area’s laneway mural, Paths to Belonging by Ashley Beerdat, supported by STEPS Public Art’s Residency Program, along with the recently completed landscaping supported by Ward 13.
For A Garden for All, Ward 13 engaged STEPS Public Art to support this project in response to community interest in new public art in Cabbagetown, near Ontario and Gerrard Streets. Funding was supported through Ward 13’s.
Additional mentorship support was provided by the Ontario Arts Council, the Government of Ontario, RBC, and the Bulmash-Siegel Foundation.
The mural’s nature and botanical themes were informed by two local resident surveys and engagement activities with Toronto Neighbourhood Group (TNG) community members. Caitlin’s design brings together flowers such as calla lilies, orchids, jasmine and lignum vitae with native medicine plants, pollinator flowers and other plants established in Toronto. Bird silhouettes move through this diverse garden, creating a sense of flight and movement.
Come celebrate the artwork and connect with neighbours over cake and light refreshments!
