About this Event
It’s getting colder outside, so we’re turning up the heating, setting the long table and pulling out the records. On 5 December we open our doors for TBA Winter Fest, an afternoon and evening full of paint, music, food and poetry, together with the artists of Echoes of In*dependence. Pick up a brush, make your own mix, pull up a chair for a dinner where poets take the floor between courses and round off the day among the stalls in the archive. Rather come just for dinner, or drop by in the evening for the market? You’re just as welcome. Pull up.
Programme
14:00 to 17:00: two workshops
In the painting workshop you get a look inside one of the artworks in the exhibition and the research behind it, before getting to work with the painting techniques yourself. In the DJ workshop, guided by Mo w/rights, you explore how DJing, storytelling and archiving are connected, and you learn to use music as a way to tell a story by digging into the historical, cultural and political messages it carries. You’ll also work with existing archival material such as speeches, interviews and video fragments, so you leave with your own short mix where past and present meet. Each workshop has eight spots, so if you want to get hands on, don’t wait too long to get your ticket.
17:30 to 19:30: community dinner & poetry
We sit down for three courses at one long table, with a poet taking the floor between each dish. You don’t need to join a workshop to eat with us, there are also separate tickets for just the dinner, but we’re keeping the table small and intimate, so once it’s gone, it’s gone.
Evening programme until 22:00: artist tours, zines and mini market
Walk through the exhibition with the artists, make your own zine on the top floor and browse the stalls in the archive, with work by small makers and initiatives from the community.
The full programme, including the names of the artists and poets, will be online soon.
Do you make something that belongs at the mini market? We’re keeping a few stalls open for makers and initiatives from the community. Email [email protected] and tell us what you make.
