Saturday at the Museum: The Secrets of Pentadaktylos
This educational programme offers children the opportunity to discover the Pentadaktylos mountain range through paintings, engravings and illustrated publications from the Costas and Rita Severis Collection.
Through the observation of artworks, students explore the iconic landscape of Pentadaktylos, discover the names of its peaks, the medieval castles located on its slopes, and the stories and legends connected with kings, queens and important moments in Cypriot history. Guided by the museum educator, the artworks become sources of knowledge through which children explore the relationship between the natural landscape, historical memory and Cyprus’s cultural heritage.
The programme concludes with a creative art workshop, where students create their own painted interpretation of Pentadaktylos, inspired by the artworks in the collection and the stories they discovered during their exploration.
