Windcraft Loud is counting ten years of creativity, collaborations, musical encounters and new paths, and is celebrating this with a series of events under the title Windcraft Back. The series brings back collaborations born out of the organisation’s journey and that of the Windcraft Music Fest back into the spotlight. The concerts are complemented by music workshops, offering students, professionals and music lovers the opportunity to engage directly with acclaimed musicians from Cyprus and abroad.Saxophonist and clarinetist William Scott will introduce us to the tradition of Swing. Emerging from the rhythms of New Orleans Jazz and Ragtime, Swing developed an irresistible dance-driven sound, closely associated with dances such as Lindy Hop.
In this workshop, we will learn a selection of well-known swing tunes rooted in the swing tradition, while also exploring collective counterpoint and soloistic improvisation techniques within the style and the foundational groove of the music.
The workshop is open to all wind and rhythm section players and any other instrumentalists of all levels.
