Join Webb’s Art Department in Auckland for the launch event and preview exhibition of our November Works of Art Live Auction, with guest speaker Sir Grahame Sydney on 17 November.On view are lots from several significant private and corporate collections: the SkyCity Art Collection; the St. Ives Modernist Collection of British and Irish modernism, including works by Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and Ben Nicholson; a major Wellington private collection, unseen outside a private home for many years, with works by Don Binney, Philip Clairmont, Raymond McIntyre and Milan Mrkusich, among others; and The Darcy Nicholas QSO Collection of Māori Ceramics, featuring works by founding members of the Ngā Kaihanga Uku collective.
Other highlights include early paintings by Sir Grahame Sydney, among them Harbour Line (1976), first exhibited by Peter Webb Galleries fifty years ago, and Bill Hammond’s In the Chapel (2016). International artists include Francis Bacon and Andy Warhol.
Following the national tour to Christchurch and Wellington, the complete catalogue is now on view in Auckland. We hope you can join us to experience these works in person.
