Annual Winterhaven Homeless Veterans Stand Down has been hosted at the Washington, DC VA Medical Center (50 Irving Street, NW, Washington DC, 20422) for the last 31 years. The day-long event brings together volunteers, VA employees, and community partners to offer immediate assistance, services, and resources to unsheltered and at-risk Veterans throughout the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, and areas of Maryland.
During the past several years, Legionnaires from Post 46 have raised funds, bought hundreds of pairs of new shoes and boots and handed out these boots and shoes to VA vetted Veterans during the Stand Down.
