There is something powerful about gathering in a small circle as the evenings darken. Stories surface, conversation deepens, and a few carefully chosen words can open a door we hadn’t realised was closed. We invite you to the first of three intimate evenings within Where the Rooks Gather, an exclusive collaboration between Rookery Retreat Cabin and Lizzie Salter | Alignment Mentor.
Together, we bring years of experience, creativity and personal exploration of Ogham, Celtic traditions and ancient pathways into an evening of craft, connection and conjuring.
A Key Beneath the Tongue explores words as vessels for meaning: spoken charms, secret names, blessings, poetry and the stories passed from one person to another.
Through a talk from Lizzie, we will follow these threads of folklore and consider their place in our own lives. What stories have we inherited? Which words have shaped our sense of self? And what have we kept unspoken that now deserves a voice?
During the evening, you will:
• Settle into an intimate circle with time to connect.
• Listen to a talk weaving together myth, poetry, folklore and reflection.
• Explore the words and intentions you wish to carry forward.
• Create your own small charm book, filled with personal words, symbols and a blessing, tied with ribbon and finished with a symbolic key.
• Close the evening with a shared ritual to honour what you have created.
You will leave with a handmade keepsake, a deeper appreciation of storytelling and folk tradition, and a personal intention expressed in your own words.
No previous craft experience or knowledge of these traditions is needed. Bring your curiosity. Sharing within the circle is always an invitation, and you are welcome to keep your reflections private.
