Have you ever thought about representing your local community and influencing decisions that affect where you live? With elections for all North Somerset Council seats taking place in May 2027, we're holding two free "Be a Councillor" events this autumn to help people find out more about the role and what is involved in standing for election.
Hosted by our Chief Executive Mandy Bishop and featuring councillors from across the council's political groups, each session will cover what councillors do, how decisions are made, the time commitment involved and the election process.
Representatives from the Local Government Association will also be on hand to share advice and answer questions.
This session will be in person at the Town Hall in Weston-super-Mare. Both sessions will cover the same information so you only need to attend one of them.
Places are free but must be booked in advance. Book your place via Ticket Source using the tickets link.
Once you’ve registered to attend, we’ll email you before the day with more information. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions in advance as well as on the day.
Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will remain available until 24 hours before each event or when maximum numbers are reached – whichever comes first.
