A safe, supportive space for parents of autistic children and teenagers
experiencing school burnout. Together, we will explore what burnout can
look like, understand our children's experiences, and share practical ways to
support recovery while also looking after ourselves as parents.
Session 1 – Understanding School Burnout
● What is school burnout and what does it look like in children and
teenagers?
● Understanding the difference between burnout, anxiety, avoidance and
overwhelm.
● Recognising the impact of prolonged stress, masking and unmet needs.
● A safe space for parents to share experiences and feel heard.
Session 2 – Understanding Your Child’s Experience
● Seeing school through your child’s eyes: what might they be experiencing?
● Recognising early signs of overwhelm, exhaustion and shutdown.
● Understanding behaviour as communication.
● Supporting emotional regulation, recovery and connection at home.
Session 3 – Supporting Recovery and Moving Forward
● Practical ways to reduce pressure and support recovery from burnout.
● Working with school to create realistic, supportive adjustments.
● Balancing your child’s needs with family life and parental wellbeing.
● Building hope, connection and a sustainable path forward, together.
