About this Event
We live in a time when humanity has more choices, information and material possibilities than ever before, yet many people still feel deeply lost. Beneath the noise of modern life lies an ancient question: What are we really seeking?
We seek success, security, recognition, relationships and happiness, but often discover that these things alone cannot quiet the restlessness within us. At some point, the human being is brought to questions that cannot easily be answered by the modern world: Who am I? Why am I here? What is the purpose of my life? And where is God in all of this?
For some, the journey begins with faith. For others, it begins with doubt, confusion, disappointment or even a period of feeling completely disconnected from God. Yet questioning can itself become part of the journey—not necessarily a departure from the Divine, but an invitation to seek with greater honesty.
Drawing upon the spiritual tradition of Islam and the insights of Sufism, Shaykh Mus‘ab Penfound explores the human journey from being lost to finding direction; from merely knowing about God to seeking a living relationship with Him; and from being consumed by the self to discovering the deeper reality of the heart.
Rather than presenting Sufism as an escape from the modern world, this talk asks how its timeless teachings can help us navigate the modern world without losing our soul.
Ultimately, what we are all seeking may not be another achievement, possession or identity—but meaning, belonging, truth, love and a return to the One from whom we came.
