About this Event
Boudewijn Thomas is co-founder of MVRDV NEXT, the practice’s research and innovation group. As lead of decarbonisation at MVRDV, he is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies, tools and workflows that translate climate ambition into measurable reductions across the practice’s projects. He is Executive Sustainability Program Partner of the Council on Vertical Urbanism, the world’s leading organization focused on tall buildings and vertical urbanism, where he contributes to international efforts to accelerate the decarbonization of buildings and cities through data. Boudewijn works at the intersection of architecture, climate, computation and implementation.
His work has helped shape MVRDV’s evolving approach to low-carbon design, including the development of carbon design tools for architects, climate design guidelines and project-specific decarbonization strategies. He is part of the team behind CarbonSpace, MVRDV NEXT’s open platform for early-stage embodied carbon assessment, and works closely with architects, engineers, developers and researchers to integrate carbon intelligence into everyday design practice. Across his work runs a consistent ambition: to turn data and climate targets into practical design decisions, and to give architects the tools to act on them.
