Join us to watch as Wellington performance poets compete to become the Wellington Regional Poetry slam champion.Celebrating local voices with a night of performance poetry!
Every year since 2011, Wellington has gathered its best performance poets to compete in a poetry slam. This is competitive poetry. We know you can’t judge art, but we do it anyway and trick masses of people into coming to a poetry show for their own good.
Poetry in Motion hosts a monthly event, but at this time of year the “poetry slam season” begins and poets compete to be crowned the Wellington Regional Poetry Slam champion.
The top two competitors go on to compete in the New Zealand National Poetry Slam finals, where the National Poetry Slam Champion is crowned.
In the past 15 years, four national champions have come from Wellington. Maybe the next one will be this year?
