About this Event
War Inna Babylon -The Community's Struggle for Truth & Justice
Join us in person for a community presentation centered on the community’s struggle for truth, rights and justice - since the landing of the Windrush in 1948 up to today. We will consider how systemic racism manifests and impacts on Black lives in the UK today.
On Saturday, 7 November, we are bringing 'War Inna Babylon' back home to Tottenham.
Join us at Tottenham Green Leisure Centre from 10.30–4pm for a free multimedia presentation of the acclaimed War Inna Babylon project - a powerful journey through the history of Black British resistance, community organising and the struggle for justice.
This is more than a presentation.
It is about remembering who we are, reclaiming the histories that have too often been excluded or distorted, and ensuring that the next generation knows the struggles that came before them.
War Inna Babylon grew out of the experiences of communities who refused to remain silent in the face of racism, police violence and injustice. It tells a story of resistance, resilience and collective action, and reminds us that many of the rights and freedoms we have today were won because ordinary people were prepared to stand together and fight for them.
The project is a community-led intervention to reclaim, preserve and teach Black British civil rights history.
And on Saturday 7 November we want you to be part of it.
Bring your family. Bring your young people. Bring your friends, comrades and anyone who believes that our history matters.
Come and hear the stories.
Come and see the archive.
Come and remember.
Come and learn.
Come and help us ensure that these histories are not forgotten.
