About this Event
Take an hour out of your day to slow down and see Gordon Street, Bloomsbury, differently - while contributing to research investigating the benefits of urban nature on wellbeing and belonging.
Join Tranquil City for a relaxed, guided walk along Gordon Street and Gordon Square West. We’ll stop at a few spots along the way to look, listen and jot down or sketch what we notice. Expect new greenery, new seating, wildlife, sounds and the odd surprise.
It’s an easy way to meet new people, especially if you’re new to UCL or Bloomsbury. You don’t need any drawing skills, as journaling can be a doodle, a word or a single line.
What to expect
- A walk of about one hour with [six] short stops, ending near Taviton Street
- Simple journaling prompts at each stop
- A few quick questions at each stop about how the space feels to you
- Journals and pens provided
Why we’re running it
This walk is part of an independent study of the Gordon Street public realm pilot. The study is led by Tranquil City with Vestre and LDA Design, and supported by Camden Council, UCL, Cityscapes, Conway and idverde. It explores whether the new greenery, seating and traffic calming boost wellbeing, connection to nature and sense of belonging. The study is separate from Camden Council’s public consultation. Your answers are anonymous, and you can skip any question.
